It is the power generated by the force of moving water, a primary machine initially transformed into mechanical energy and then a secondary machine transformed into electrical energy, also known as hydro

Traditional industrial development and hydroelectric plants are not handmade:

a large dam : to store water, provide a more constant flow also increase and accumulate potential energy in the form of hydraulic head

adduction : a hydraulic system is in most cases a gallery and a charge pressure pipe to transport the water to the turbine

a roundhouse : wherein the turbine is housed and it transforms the energy of water into mechanical energy , which pierces ( by arrow ) to the generator ( slave machine ) to produce electrical energy, and other auxiliary equipment ,

suction : a hydraulic system that restores the water, generally , to its natural channel .

The two main features of a hydroelectric plant, from the point of view of its electricity generation capacity are:

The power, which is a function of the height difference between the average level of the reservoir and the average water level below the center, and the maximum flow turbinable addition to the characteristics of the turbines and generators used in the transformation.

The guaranteed energy in a given period of time, usually one year, which is a function of the volume of the reservoir, and the installed capacity.
