Project Name

Measurement of air pollution

Definition of the problem

Air pollution is defined as the presence of undesirable materials in air, which in large enough amounts can harm human health, vegetation , human property or the global environment.

The existence of these materials in the air can also cause unpleasant odors , irritation or discomfort without necessarily being the concentration of exposure concentrations that may cause toxic effects

Base line

IMECA means " Metropolitan Index of Air Quality ." The index or measurement serves to inform the public about how Hourly air quality in the city is located.

The IMECA served for levels of pollutants such as ozone (O3 ) , particulate matter less than ten microns (PM10 ) , sulfur dioxide (SO2 ) , nitrogen dioxide (NO2 ) and carbon monoxide (CO ) . As measured by the scale is that these chemicals can cause discomfort to the human body.

According to the " Environmental Technical Standard Federal District (NADF-009 - AIR -2006) , if the IMECA is between 0 and 50 is considered good air quality; has a value between 51 and 100 air quality is average ; between 101 and 150 points means that the air quality is bad, which means that sensitive population should take precautions.

Purpose

Purpose of the research on air pollution is know how to measure , which is used machinery and how could prevent or decrease
