Topic: Acid rain, alternative energy sources and climate change.

What is the problem?

Acid rain and climate change are two of the most serious environmental problems facing the world today. Both are caused by the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and gas, which release harmful pollutants into the atmosphere. These pollutants not only damage the environment, but also threaten the health and well-being of humans and other living beings.

Why is it important?

One of the most important challenges that we face today is to protect the environment from further damage, for this reason alternative energy sources. By switching to renewable energy, such as solar, wind, geothermal, and hydroelectric power, we can reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, lower our greenhouse gas emissions, and prevent further acidification of the environment.

Who is affected by this problem?

This problem affects many living beings, both humans and wildlife, in different ways. Some of the effects are:

  • Acid rain can harm the health of humans and animals by causing respiratory problems, skin irritation, eye irritation, and increased risk of infections.
  • Acid rain can damage the environment by killing plants, trees, fish, and other wildlife, as well as eroding buildings, monuments, and statues.
  • Climate change can also harm the health of humans and animals by increasing the frequency and intensity of heat waves, droughts, floods, storms, and diseases.
  • Climate change can also damage the environment by melting glaciers, rising sea levels, altering habitats, and threatening biodiversity.

Therefore, this problem is a serious global issue that requires urgent action and cooperation from all sectors of society.

What is the solution?

A possible solution would be to consume local products, which would help save fuel that would be used to transport them, eat less meat since 25-40 percent of CO2 comes from it, organize recycling campaigns in our communities and impose sanctions for not complying with them, use vehicles that do not consume gasoline such as our bicycles, educate the next generations more about these topics and demand cooperation from our local governments with this great problem.

How creative is the solution?

The solution is not very creative because these topics are things that we know every day and we do not take a concrete action to help reduce it, pushing this problem to future generations.

Instead of repeating the same old solutions, we need to think outside the box and find new ways to protect the environment. We cannot keep ignoring the problem and leaving it for our children to solve.

We have heard these solutions many times, but we have not acted on them. We are wasting time and resources while the environment suffers. We need to be more responsible and innovative, and not pass the burden to the next generations.
