Bob Marley

Robert Nesta Marley was born on February 6, 1945 in a small town north of the island of Jamaica, in the Caribbean Sea. It was a Jamaican musician and composer. During his musical career, he was the leader, songwriter and guitarist for the ska, rocksteady and reggae. Marley remains the most widely known and respected performer of reggae music, and is credited with helping spread both Jamaican music and the Rastafari movement.

Among his biggest hits are the singles "I Shot the Sheriff", "No Woman, No Cry", "Jamming", "Redemption Song" and the posthumous release "Buffalo Soldier". The compilation album Legend, released in 1984, three years after his death, is reggae's best-selling album in history with 20 million copies worldwide.

He was the son of Cedella Booker and Norval Marley, a white Jamaican of English ancestry according to some sources his mother (grandmother of Bob) Norval pressed him to stay away from the child for racial prejudice. Bob's father died when he was 10.
