CiNiA

A lot of people in Mexico suffer from discrimination and they aren’t willing to get a job, that is why CiNiA was created. It is an organization founded for handicapped people; incorporating this people to an easy job depending on their skills, their purpose in life or their desires of working. They usually get jobs like sweepers, gardeners, chefs, artists, and store keepers. The project started in Puebla and now is an international foundation, that is why we decided to talk about CiNiA, because it is a local organization which is directed to help people’s skills and also because CiNiA was the first association in Mexico to manage this problem.

CiNiA is a social organization founded by Mrs. Socorro Alfaro de Morales in February 2005 created by the need to introduce people with disabilities to working life in industries which are suitable to their conditions. That’s why a famous architect built the factory with adequate equipment for the workers who are now over 350. The projects realized in this association are divided in 6 areas; the first is the textile industry where the employers design the labor’s uniforms of different companies; the second one is the gastronomic area distinct prepared food is cooked for some educative and governmental institutions; then we have the gardening were they give support to gardens supplying plants, grass, etc.; also there is the conditioning industry making packets for sugar or candles and one of the most popular areas is the area of hand crafts where the workers create floating lamps(also known as “Cantolla ballons”) and cloth dolls which are commercialized and distributed in Epcot, Disneyland. We can contribute to this organization buying the different products that are sold downtown Puebla like 6 East #202 and in other state’s parts like Vía Atlicxcayotl #2499.

Throughout our search to understand how helps the organization CiNiA we learnt that an intellectual disability is a human condition that we can be born with or that we could

have acquired. But even with this impediments, the majority of people with intellectual or physical disabilities can learn, can take care of themselves, work in different jobs and be part of our society, only that they need time, good orientation and education. Unfortunately in our society isolate them; with that we break their self-confidence, putting them borders instead of take they off, and we aren´t approaching their amazing abilities. We need to quit the old and strict rules that reign our culture and make the people help each other without see what they´re or what they aren´t able to do. In our opinion, CiNiA is a great organization because they bring good opportunities to these people making them useful and self-sufficient.
