Heat: Is the energy that is transferred between objects that are at different temperatures.

Thermal energy: Is the total kinetic energy of particles.

Temperature: Is a measure of the average kinetic energy of particles.

Heat Transfer

Conduction: Is the transfer of energy from one object to another object through direct contact.

Convection: Is transfer of energy due to the movement of matter.

Radiation: Is the transfer of energy electromagnetic.

Thermal Expansion:  Volume Increases.

Thermal Contraction:  Volume decreases.

Specific Heat: The Different rates at which materials become warmer or cooler are due a property.

Global Winds: These Wind systems occur at or near Earth’s surface.

Local Winds: The movement of air over short distance.

Jet Streams: Are narrow belts of high-speed winds that blow from west to east.

Convection cells: Air moves in smaller circular patterns.

Coriolis effect: The apparent curving of the path of a moving object from an otherwise straight path due to Earth’s rotation.

Global winds

Polar Easterlies: West to East.

Westerlies: East to West.

Trade Winds: West to East.

Weather: atmosphere at a certain time and place.

Climate: Over a long period of time.

Elements Of Weather

Humidity: The amount of water vapor in the air.

Air Pressure:  Is the force of air molecules pushing on an area.
