GREEN DAY

Green Day is an American pop punk band originally and punk rock composed of three members : Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar , vocals), Mike Dirnt (bass and vocals ), and Tré Cool (drums, vocals ) . This training was in force until 2012 , where his guitarist integrates support for more than thirteen years : Jason White. The original Berkeley group [citation needed] , California, was conceived early in 1987 under the name Sweet Children , with drummer John Kiffmeyer (aka Al Sobrante ) . In 1989 they changed to the current name and soon after the release of their first studio album ( 39/Smooth ) Tré Cool replaced Al Sobrante.

They are one of the groups who were born in the club 924 Gilman Street, frequented place where punk rock bands . His first publications were made by the independent record label Lookout! , Thanks to successful sales of his first works , an important amount of admirers was obtained. Some years later, in 1994, signed with Reprise Records together with this label released the acclaimed Dookie , with this new album took all the sound of the late 1970s a new generation , in addition , the album became a international and has sold over twenty million copies worldwide success.

The U.S. team has sold over 85 million copies worldwide and 30 million alone in his country. In 2010 a stage adaptation of American Idiot album debuted on Broadway, the musical was nominated for Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Scenic Design, and has received positive comments. In mid-2011 Kerrang! named them as the second most influential group emerged in the last thirty years, only behind Metallica. According to a public survey, biweekly Rolling Stone, was chosen as the best Green Day set of punk history.
