Living minute by minute

Everybody wants to be happy. But no one really knows what is it that takes to be fully happy. It is common to think that money, good education, good looks or health will make you happier. However researchers have found that not necessarily. So what is it? Happiness varies depending on the person and it is up to each one to know what will lighten their day. Many times it happens that people skip through the little details that makes them smile. In order to be happier people should pay more attention to their feelings when being experienced.

Although happiness may seem impossible to measure, scientists have done their best to do it. They have tried to measure happiness with general surveys asking if they are satisfied with their lives. Nonetheless this method is too broad because one person may think they are happy because they have a job and a house. But it does not tell us how much they enjoy their job maybe they hate it and they do not like their neighborhood. It is a method that does not tell us much about how happily they live their daily life. Moreover there is another method called the Day Reconstruction, tested by Nobel prized winning psychologist Daniel Kahneman, which consist on writing a list of the activities done in the day with who and how they felt about them. With this method it is more possible to actually know what can make a person happier because you know what activities are the most appealing to someone. People can see how they feel while experiencing specific moments in their daily life.

Living the day by day, or the minute-by-minute helps to appreciate every moment. When people tell an occurrence they will only remember the picks or the lows of it and they will not tell you how the experience went moment by moment. Noting the details of every day one can realize how he or she is living their life, and what can be changed to be happier.
