Valentine’s day
This is the day we celebrated love. It is celebrated annually on february 14th.
On this day people exchange greeting cards and presents in the name of love and saint valentine.This is also known as valentine's day or the feast of saint valentine.
In the christian traditions there were several saints with the name valentine
According to legend one of this valentines was a price and he married soldier and their lover for this reason he was executed. However Valentine was in love with the daughter of his jailer and before he was executed he sent a letter to her (this was their last communication) with the sign “from your valentine” and this mark the first valentine greeting.
In other hand on february 14th, was celebrated a pagan festival called Lupercalia.
The association with the valentine day and romantic love emerge during the middle ages.
The valentine’s day is becoming more popular over the centuries;people adopt the tradition to send hand notes of one to another.
During the years the celebration of Valentine’s day include giving present like chocolates, flowers and it is not only between romantic partners, it is also between love ones and friends.
Despite it is becoming very commercial this is very popular around the world, specially in north american people, but also in other countries there was a day dedicated to love although it is know with other name which involve different customs
