The Earthquake of 1985.

It was Thursday September 19, 1985, an earthquake that affected the central, southern and western zone of México to 7:19 am. The epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean with a magnitude of 8.1 with an approximate duration of 2 minutes. The people were surprised by this phenomenon, most people heading to work and school as any day, when out of nowhere the earth began to move very strong. This earthquake trepidatory oscillatory type and simultaneously, caused the collapse of many buildings, destroying main streets and avenues of the city.

The people ran to find a phone to find out their families were good, which they were in their homes, in hospitals or in their jobs. People were not injured, helped rescue people from the rubble, finding children, women still alive. Although also they found many dead people, under hospitals, homes and offices of the city. The sadness that people had was amazing but still helping those affected. I was very young when this happened but I had already woken up when my mom took me out of the house and I can remember collapsed areas close to home.

No one was prepared for a catastrophe of this magnitude but the wonderful thing was how people came together to address these developments. Were lost buildings with history and monuments but were lost human beings, but what was lost is never the faith, even after all this, Mexico had the strength and character to stand back and completely rebuild from this tragedy.

But the most important thing is that even after 30 years of this natural disaster, we remember most is the unity of the people and the strength that we had to get by. Just left remind the people that died that day and never forget them.
