China Education

In urban areas, competition at the school level reached unimaginable levels, and the pressure that children receive from parents and teachers is huge. A third of Chinese primary school students suffer from stress, according to a study by University College London (2010) made about children of 9-12 years.

Chinese classes in schools are Monday through Sunday, with few exceptions, although the weekend are a little shorter. During the week, students attend school from 8:00 to 20:00, and in the higher grades some depart at 22.00. The rest of the time they do not consider "free" because the vast majority of young people are in two or more extracurricular activities like art classes, sports or languages-and their parents are willing to pay a high price for them.

The enrollment rate in China is 98.9% (until 2004) .This is due to the adult education system, which is intensive and aggressive, which has achieved 83.4% literacy of the adult population 25% of the Chinese population studying in an institution. The school dropout rate is 0.2% (until 2006)

Chinese schools are more than comfortable functional buildings, with little equipment and little space. None has air conditioning, large living rooms, library, dining room, well-equipped gyms. Computers are in the classroom. No money is intended for janitors, students help keep the school clean.
