If America Conquers Europe

IF AMERICA CONQUERS EUROPE

Since we are little we have always heard the history of Christopher Columbus and the conquer of America by European countries, we have learned the changes, the conflicts and combinations of both cultures; the changes that affected our daily life in many aspects such as religion, science, language and many others that changed the way native Americans saw the world. The native Americans perished and were obly to learn Christian religion (forgot their cultures) under the merciless rule of the Europeans while the old continent took great advantages of America’s resources and richness, but haven’t you ask yourself what could had happened if the American cultures conquered Europe? And how will our lives change? Surely things would be much more different than how they are now, although that does not mean it would be exactly the same as how it was in the Native American societies.

It would be very interesting to inquire about all the aspects that will change, however we will focus mostly in science because we think it is one of the aspects that could be more affected because it played and important role in American civilizations life besides it summarizes the most important topics or ideas of American civilizations.

We think the change in science will be a huge one considering that in Europe were not huge advances in science as a result of the declaration of the church that almost everything was a sin besides people in the middle ages were more interested In war and protection than in knowledge and in addition most texts were written in Greek or Latin, languages that few people knew, in the other hand American civilizations were in their golden ages and very advanced in astronomy and math. We think the Incas, the Mayas and the Aztecs were the most advanced and a powerful civilizations, that is why we think they have more possibilities to conquer Europe therefore we will talk about them.

If we think how will astronomy be we should say that it will be very important because for American civilizations the astronomy was used not only to know when to grow crops but also to know the actions of the gods consequently astronomy will be linked with religion. Besides this astronomy helped civilizations to develop calendars, the most remarkable one was of the Mayas therefore we think Europe will use the solar system of the Mayas and another one that will be the mixture of the Gregorian (used in Europe) ant the religion calendar used by the Mayas.

In relation with math we think Europeans will use a number system based in number 20 like the one of the Mayas and Aztecs but with the difference that some number will be written with points and lines (Mayas) and others will be written like the ones used in Europe.
