I'm going to explain you about what was the Ottoman Empire I will explain you the location, gorvernment, society, art, religion and empire.

The Ottoman Empire and location

In the late 13th, a new group of Turks under their leader Osman began to build power in the northwest corner of the Anatolian Peninsula, they began to expand and eventually controlled the Bosporus and The Dardanalles.

Ottoman Government

The center of the sultan power was The Topkapi Palace in Instanbul. It had an administrative topic and served as a secret residense of the ruler and his family. The secret domain of the sultan was called harem.

Religion

Ottomans were muslims. The sultans gave their religious duties to a grup of religious advisers known as the ulema. Islamic law and customs were applied to every Muslims in the empire. People who were not Muslims paid taxes.

Society

There were 4 occupational groups:

Peasants: farmed land that was leased by state. Artisans: were organized according to craft guilds, they had financial services and social security. Merchants: were exempt from governments regulations and taxes. Pastoral people: they take care of sheeps, dogs, and cattle

Art

Ottomans were known because of their production of pottery: rugs, silk, jewelry, arms and armours. The most important contribution of Ottoman art was in architecture, and the greatest of all Ottoman architects was Sinan, who built 81 mosques, from which the most important is the Suleimaniye Mosque in Istanbul.

Empire's decline

Ottoman Empire reached its highest point under Suleyman the Magnificent, who ruled from 1520 to 1566, but it's also when the problems began to occur. Some sultan considered immoral this activities and started persecuting and executing people.
