Who and/or what caused World War I?

The main causes for the development of the WWI are many, but the most important are: The assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary, Imperialism, Nationalism, Militarism, Propaganda and the tension between the countries for the alliances of some countries.

This documents show a series of events occurred before, in and after the WWI, in document 3, is an excerpt from the Austro-Hungarian Red Book No. 7 on July 23 of 1914, and it's about the ultimatum that Austria-Hungary put on Servia for the assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand. This ultimatum said that Serbia had to run investigation against their generals involucres in the assassination, punish the violent movements against the monarchy and led the Austrians-Hungarians participate in this investigations.

The Serbians denied to this ultimatum and that started the war. But another factor were influencing all this problems before the assassination, like the Imperialism. The imperialism brought a lot of conflicts between nations because all the nations wanted to expand their boundaries and gain more economical military power and also more territory to get more resources. One of the consequences of the Imperialism was the Militarism, the Militarism was the belief of the countries that they have to maintain a strong and well trained army to be ready to fight for the interests of the country. The Militarism was a main cause of the tension between countries because they thought that the other countries can attack in every moment.

In fact, Nationalism was another cause of the war, the Nationalism made people thought that what they believe it is right, nationalism made people to think that the other countries were weaker than they, the nationalism made the countries less fearful about the problems of war.

The last but not less important causes was the propaganda, the propaganda made a lot of influence in the countries, because the propaganda can made mad another counties or can make them more proud and confident of themselves, because the propaganda of Germany make made to all the countries, but (for example) the American propaganda make the people and soldiers think that going to the war was the best and they should go to fight.
