MY VISIT TO NIAGARA FALLS

Have you ever been to Niagara Falls? If your answer is negative, I strongly suggest you to make some changes for your next vacations. I gladly had the opportunity to of visit ing this amazing place this summer. I have to confess that at first, I didn’t have high good expectations because of all the reviews I had read about the American side at Buffalo, NY. Fortunately, as soon as I arrived there, everything changed for better and I can say that it’s worth every dollar I spent. There are so many attractions to experience, but four of them really caught my attention: The Niagara Falls State Park, Maid of the Mist boat tour, Cave of the Winds trip, and the Niagara Adventure Theater.

To access the falls, I had to enter to the Niagara Falls State Park, believe it or not, is a free access park. It gave me the opportunity of having the first contact with the falls. The sensation of listening to overflowing waters is unique, because I could feel the power of this natural beauty. My family and I walked around this huge park while we were taking tons of pictures. While I was touring the park, I noticed that there are many things to do there. I saw people having picnics, and there are trails where people can do biking. Also, I found nice restaurants, and gift shops. At night, there is a light show where the falls are illuminated with colored spotlights, but the best is at 10 pm when the fireworks show starts. The combination of the colored falls with the fireworks as a background, makes that moment unique and something unforgettable. Unfortunately, it only happens on Fridays and Sundays.

Visiting the Niagara Falls and not riding the Maid of the Mist is a huge mistake. This attraction is one of the most important ones because the boat gives the opportunity of getting the best view I believe, of the falls. Also, I could experience the power of the falls up close on the boat. The views are breathtaking, and because I got wet, the mist from the falls are very refreshing. One thing that people don’t know is that the boat passes very close by the Canadian side. This scenario is just perfect. I have to mention that, taking pictures is quite difficult because when the boat is getting closer to the falls, the lens of the camera gets wet and the quality of the pictures are not so good. So I gave up on taking pictures and I decided to put the camera in my backpack and enjoy the ride.

I thought that the Maid of the Mist was going to be the best attraction there. However, the Cave of the Winds made my trip. I had a blast! The sensation of the feeling and seeing the wind blowing water onto the docking was awesome. This place got me really close to the falls. Being there, I thanked God for having the chance of experiencing this natural attraction. The hurricane deck was the best of the best. I got completely wet, but this is something that everybody needs to

experience. I went on in a sunny day, so it was a refreshing time that gave me more energy to keep walking the rest of the park.

Finally, I went to the Niagara Falls Theater. The place is small but cozy. It projected a short movie called Legends of Adventure. This movie showed the interesting history of the falls and gave important facts about how the falls have been changing within time. Also it told some stories about people trying to challenge the power of the falls. In one of those, it mentioned how a woman went over the falls in a barrel. It sounds crazy but it was true. The best part is that she survived. It’s unbelievable! This movie is less than an hour long but I really enjoyed it.

People who are is planning on visiting the falls must experience the State Park, the Maid of the Mist tour, the Cave of the winds trip, and the Adventure Theater. In my personal opinion, they are the most important attractions. There are more available, but I think that they are complementary to the main ones and they just make the visit more enjoyable. Niagara Falls gave me the opportunity of having a real approach with nature, and also allowed me to have quality time with my family. I would love to come back again because I had the best vacation s of my life. This is the kind of places that people can keep visiting over and over and never get tired of it.
