INSTRUCTIONS:

• Talk is a basic way that we can show a lot of feelings, choosing the right time and place to talk is important.

• Use a good language for each behavior and situation that they are living, respect the teen privacy and desire them to be independent.

• Teens are most likely to listen to parents if they feel they can trust their parents, they think their parents have a good advice and interest in the teen activities.

• Teens feel supported by their parents; they feel that their parents are there with/for them having common goals.

2. Then answer the following questions based on the reading

a. How can you define the word approach in the family context?

RTA: According to the text we can define approach as the way that parents can be closer to their teen to build good relations among themselves and improve the coexistence between families.

b. Where is the best place to start a family conversation?

RTA: The best place to start a family conversation should have some characteristics like the following: it has to be a quiet place, and free of distractions as possible where you will not be interrupted but in my point of view the most important thing about the place is where all family feel comfortable, the common place could be home, or a park.

c. Why you don´t have to foce topics or just wait for what you want to listen?

RTA: Because teen do not feel comfortable and it can cause that teen want to avoid the conversation, this shows a dominant position that make feel teens that parents do not have enough interest to listen their teens , this generate that teens do not trust neither themselves nor their parents.

d. Give a new tip for communication within the family.

RTA: A tip to improve the communication within the family can be the attitude of parents when they talk with teen, it could change the perception that teens have about their parents; this with a good disposition, language and sharing cultural or sporty activities awaken interest to communicated more safely and confidence.

Nowadays, the coexistence between families is deteriorated due to some factors; one of those is that the communication between parents and teens is not close enough to build good relations among themselves, to change this the first thing you should consider is the place to talk within the family, this have to be comfortable, quiet, could be a special space at home. As you know, teen’s reaction is not as good as you think, for many reasons such as: fear that
