Apple Inc was condemned to pay 532.9 million dollars (mdd) after Texas's federal court passed that his software iTunes infringed three patents of the signature Smartflash LLC.

Though the plaintiff had asked for 852 mdd for hurts, the verdict of the Tuesday night continues being a hard blow for Apple. The court, which discussed his decision for eight hours, determined that Apple not only had used Smartflash's patents without permission, but it did it deliberately.

Apple, which announced that it will appeal, said that the failure represents another reason more by that a reform becomes necessary in the system of patents, to stop this way the litigations with companies that do not make products for them themselves. " We reject to pay to this company for the ideas in those who our employees exist happening years innovating ", said Apple.

Smartflash sued Apple in May, 2013 on having said that iTunes infringed his patents related to the access and storage of songs, videoes and unloaded games. " Smartflash is very happy for the verdict, which recognizes Apple's deliberate and long breach ", said the attorney of Smartflash, Brad Caldwell, in an e-mail.

Apple had asked that the court was declaring Smartflash's patents invalid because inventions patented before already were covering the same technology. Smartflash also has presented demands for patents against Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, HTC Corp and Google Inc.
