Bingham, C., Sidorkin, A. M., et. al. (2004). Manifesto of relational pedagogy: Meeting to learn, learning to meet. In Bingham, C. & Sidorkin, A. M. (Eds.) No education without relation (pp. 5 – 7). Peter Lang: NY.

This article discusses the concept of relational pedagogy and the importance of relational pedagogy in the education system, especially in younger, elementary aged children. The idea of relational pedagogy is that the best way to enhance the learning experience of the children is to foster and create genuinely caring relationships with the students. The principles of relational pedagogy will be implemented in the Miamifield elementary school.

CBS Sunday Morning. “The Changing American Family:Video.” YouTube, YouTube, 11 May 2014.

This video discusses the ever-changing dynamics of the American family. The different ways that the family concept in America has changed over the years directly impact the way that the family participates in the education system. Based on these discoveries and understanding of the aspects of family life and involvement and how they can be used we can create a school that is heavily dependent on the involvement of family in education and create a school where it is important to have the perspectives and opinions of the family taken into consideration when it comes to the decisions made for their children’s education.

Eddigest. “The Incredible True Story.” Teaching Tolerance, vol. 45, 2013, pp. 33–35.

It explains that “informational reading can contribute to a more flexible and authentic curriculum.” The principles of this article will be applied to the Miamifield school and the students in the school will follow a reading curriculum that implements the ideas of using informational, nonfiction texts to enhance the educational experience of the child.

Friedman, Milton. “Public Schools: Make Them Private.” Cato Institute, 23 June 1995.

This article discusses the need to reconstruct the elementary and secondary educational systems in a radical and extreme way.  The improvements suggested in the article are designed to make a less stratified system, in terms of social class, based on education levels of the people in our society. It discusses the pros and cons of schooling reform and how it will impact the economy and tax payers, all of which are principles that can be applied to the failing schools and economy in the Miamifield case study.

Global Research. “NeoCon 101: What Do NeoConservatives Believe?” Global Research, 12 Nov. 2015.

This article discusses the basic ideas of what NeoConservatives believe. The principles and concepts discussed in this article and the examples of neo-conservatism can be used to create a school based on these neoconservative ideologies.
