A national identity card is a portable document, typically a plasticized card with digitally-embedded information, that someone is required or encouraged to carry as a means of confirming their identity. I believe that American citizens shouldn’t have to own national identity cards. Having a national identity card won't be able to prevent terrorism. Terrorist or criminals would still be able to obtain the documents needed to get a government ID, even if it’s by an illegal way.It’s an inane way to stop terrorism in the United States. A national ID card system doesn't guarantee us complete security. They would get rid of the freedom of those citizens that follow the law. Then the government would have complete control of the American citizens.

People believe the national ID card system would indubitably eliminate racial profiling, and I think it would be the complete opposite. Minorities would become subject to identity checks from police, because of their appearance or because they sound foreign. If for some reason they aren't carrying their national identity card with them, it would become a reason for search, detention or arrest of minorities. The owning of a nationaL

identity card would be a invasion of privacy for many American citizens.

Also a national identity card would require a database on every American citizen contains updated information on each of them. With so many information to handle many errors would begin to arise with the information of the citizens. This would cause citizens to have many problems with their everyday life. Having a national ID card would be very testy to handle.
