The monument of independence better known like angel of the independence is located in paseo de la reforma

Is one of the main symbols of the city the monument is dedicated to the Heroes of Independence, even some of his remains found inside the mausoleum itself of this patriotic grounds.

The first stone of this recognized monument was laid on January 2, 1902 By Porfirio Diaz. The Project Steering was by architect Antonio Rivas Mercado, also author of the Theater Juarez in Guanajuato City.

The pedestal

In the east of the pedestal, is at the top a sculpture called "Apotheosis of the Father of the Nation" comprised of three figures, two of which symbolic figures.
