A browser or web browser - known in English as web browser - is a program or software, usually free, which allows us to view web pages over the Internet as well as access to other information resources hosted also on web servers, as they can be videos, images, audio and XML files.
These also allow us to store information or access different types of documents on the hard drive, etc, to access private networks, and create bookmarks (bookmarks), as well as access to other websites through hyperlinks (hyperlinks or links) .
The name is derived from the term browser navigation, although most people prefer to call or expectos browser would be the literal translation of the word browser.
Function browsers:
Browsers communicate with Web servers using the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) to access the Internet addresses (URLs) through search engines.
Most web browsers support other network protocols such as HTTPS (the secure version of HTTP), Gopher, and FTP, and markup languages or HTML and XHTML web standards documents. Browsers also interact with supplements or applications (plug-ins) to support Flash files and Java programs (Java applets).
Common features of browsers:
All browsers include the following features: tabbed browsing, pop-up blocker, support for search engines, download manager, bookmarks, spell checker, and keyboard shortcuts. To maintain privacy almost all browsers provide easy ways to delete cookies, web caches and history.
Internet suites are those web browsers including integrated programs able to read Usenet news, emails, and IRC, which are text chat in real time through IMAP, NNTP and POP protocols.
Typically they use the HTTPS security protocol through cryptographic protocols SSL / TLS to secure data exchange with web servers. They also tend to have antiphishing and antimalware protection.
Some browsers come built into your operating system as is the case of Microsoft Internet Explorer on Windows, Safari on Mac OS X, or Firefox, Opera or Flock on Linux.

A web browser is an application used on the Internet that allows the interpretation of websites or files that are usually developed in the HTML code. Search engines are then for viewing text, graphics, animations, access sounds and run programs, these provide us with the tasks and activities in less time, each browser have similar characteristics but work at different speeds and I noticed that the speed of Mozilla it is lower than Chrome and Internet Explorer, but also note that opera is a little slower than Firefox and Chrome.
