Objective:

-Learn what TOEIC is about, which is its purpose, how long the test takes, what sections does it has, where is it taken.

Procedure:

According to the link of TOEIC’s webpage, I had to investigate some questions that the teacher gave me for homework.

Results:

• Who takes TOEIC and why?

TOEIC is administered to people already working in companies or those looking for a job; thus, it contains multiple situations at the job. It covers mainly five areas: Offices and Personnel, Business and Finance, Housing and Projects, Travel and Technical Areas.

• Where do people take it?

The ETS Preferred Network (EPN) provides localized service to ETS's TOEIC® and TOEFL® tests, as well other English Language Learning (ELL) products and services in more than 75 countries. To find an EPN office near you, choose a location.

• Who accepts TOEIC scores?

The TOEIC tests, including the TOEIC® Listening and Reading test and the TOEIC® Speaking and Writing tests are used by more than 10,000 businesses, organizations and government agencies in 120 countries. In 2010, more than six million TOEIC tests were administered worldwide, establishing the TOEIC Program as the largest and most widely used English-language assessment for the workplace.

• What is the testing format?

The TOEIC Listening and Reading test is a paper-and-pencil, multiple-choice test. There are two separately timed sections of 100 questions each.

• How many sections does the test have?

It has seven sections: four that measure your listening comprehension skills and three that measure your reading comprehension.

• What is the test content for section 1?

Test takers listen to a variety of questions and short conversations recorded in English, then answer questions based on what they have heard (100 items total).

• Part 1: Photographs

• Part 2: Question-Response

• Part 3: Conversations

• Part 4: Short Talks

• What is the test content for section 2?

Test takers read a variety of materials and respond at their own pace (100 items total).

• Part 5: Incomplete Sentences

• Part 6: Error Recognition or Text Completion

• Part 7: Reading Comprehension

• How long does each section take?

The test takes approximately 2½ hours, with:

• 45 minutes for Section I

• 75 minutes for Section II
