THE CRUEL SEA

Water gives life, it is important for the survival of every creature on earth, it can be peaceful, it can transform a desert into a field. For several thousand years man has learn to control it to their own benefit. However, it can destroy much faster than it can create. I never knew wáter could be so destructive until I experienced first hand it’s brutal power.

It was grey afternoon in September. The traffic had been terrible that afternoon and I was anxious to get home to the confort of my room to relax and watch the ocean through my window.

I was rounding the corner near my home when I saw a crowd of people running in the opposite direction and Heard a a low rumbling sound. At first I thought it was an accident but as I thought more on the situation, I began to realise that this was much more serious. I thought of running with everybody else but by that time it was too late.

I was shocked to see a huge Wall of wáter racing towards me, swallowing everyone in it’s path. Throwing cars and tearing trees from the ground. Suddenly my entire car was picked up by the wave as if it had been hit by a truck. Wáter poured inside as the car was thrown around, then I blacked out.

I don’t know how.. call it a miracle or just luck, but I awoke several hours later in the hospital with only a few cuts and bruises. But one thing stayed in my mind. We can try to control the sea, but in the end. It will always have the power
