“Past of verb to be”

This type is used to indicate actions taken in the past.

The past of the verb to be will was (he, she, it, i) which is used for singular pronouns.

Example:

She was my friend = Ella fue mi Amiga

He was cold = El estuvo resfriado

It was in Puebla = Eso estuvo en Puebla

I was a good doctor = Yo fui un buen doctor

The translation of this word to be español: was or was

The verb to be were is used for plural pronouns (they, we, you).

Example:

They were with my girlfriend = Ellos estuvieron con mi novio

We were with you = Nosotros estuvimos contigo

You were very happy = tu estuviste muy feliz

The verb to be is used to indicate the place where it was.

This type is used to indicate actions taken in present.

The present the verb to be will be, am (I), is (he, she, it), it s used to the singular pronouns.

And the translation of this word will be: Es or Esta

Example:

I am dancing = Yo estoy bailando

He is cooking = El esta cocinando

She is playing = Ella esta jugando

It is cleaning = Eso esta limpiando

The expressions there is and there are used in English to indicate that an object or a person found in a specified site. The particularity of these structures is that there is not the real subject of the verb to be, although it precedes. The real subject of the verb is in the position immediately following:

There is a book on the table.

There are two books on the table.

Unlike the word "no" in Castilian, which is unchanged, the form of the verb to be changes depending on the nature of the real subject, as you can see below:

1. There is used when the subject is:

• A singular countable noun:

There is an apple in the basket.

• An uncountable noun:

There is some tea in the pot.

There is ice on the street.

Uncountable nouns can take quantifiers like some, any, much, a lot of so.

2. There are used when the subject is:

• A plural noun:

There are two apples in the basket.
