TOM CHAPLIN BIOGRAPHY

Thomas Oliver "Tom" Chaplin (born 8 March 1979, Battle, East Sussex, England) is a singer, musician and composer, best known for being the lead singer of British band Keane.

Tom Chaplin was born to David Chaplin and Sally Taylor, about one month apart from future band mate Tim Rice-Oxley’s brother, also called Tom. Their mothers became friends and he started a friendship with the two brothers that endures today

He attended Vine Hall School where his father was headmaster. With Rice-Oxley, Chaplin then attended Ton bridge School. Studying there, they met Richard Hughes, who would later be their band mate and Dominic Scott (who was an original member of the line-up but left in 2001).

In 1995, the trio (Scott, Rice-Oxley and Hughes) started their first band, The Lotus Eaters. It was a cover band that played U2, Oasis and The Beatles at Sussex pubs. Tim Rice-Oxley invited Chaplin to join the band as an acoustic guitar player. Short time later, in 1997, the band’s name changed to Keane and Tom Chaplin became the lead vocalist.

Tom’s family now run a charity called Rwanda Aid, with Tom providing the capital to fund several projects in that country.

Tom married his long-term girlfriend Nat in June 2011.

Thomas Oliver Chaplin (Hastings, Inglaterra, 8 de marzo de 1979) es un cantante, músico y compositor inglés, más conocido por ser el cantante del grupo británico Keane. Su voz está considerada como una de las mejores del Reino Unido y del mundo de la música en general.

Tom Chaplin nacido de David Chaplin y Taylor Sally, alrededor de un mes, nació el hermano de su futuro compañero de banda Tim Rice-Oxley, también llamado Tom. Sus madres se hicieron amigos y comenzó una amistad con los dos hermanos que perdura hoy en día.

Asistió a la Escuela Vinehall donde su padre era director. Con Rice-Oxley, Chaplin luego asistió a Tonbridge School. Estudiando allí, conoció a Richard Hughes, quien más tarde sería su compañero de banda y Dominic Scott (quien era un miembro original de la alineación, pero dejó en 2001).
