Victoria Mejia de Garcia was born in 1895. She lived in a very poor street called San Roque in Lambayeque. She helped her mother working together; to give you an idea how she worked, she helped her mother cooking in orphanages and also helping children, but when she was 20 her mother died and she continued working in orphanages, but she wanted to do something else, in the 1920 she started preparing traditional sweets at her home because she thought “If I had more money, I might be able to help more to the orphanages”, everything was fine for the first 5 years, therefore she decided to adopt a child, his name was Jorge Antonio Piscoya Mayquen. Since he was living with Ms. Victoria, he helped her, taking care of his sister Perpetua Garcia. Ms. Victoria became very famous with one dessert called Kin Kong, after 15 years the orphanage closed, but Ms. Victoria decided to open a mini company with her children, keep in mind that Jorge Piscoya studied engineering.

This company would be called “San Roque” because most of the part of her life she lived in that street. Ms. Victoria worked a lot with her children to be successful, in 1969 being overweight, she had a malignant disease, so in her last life hours she said that she wanted to export King Kong to other countries, in 1970 her children did what she wanted to be done, so they started exporting Kin Kong. Before finishing let me say that “San Roque” is still helping orphanages in Lambayeque and in the recent years the sweetness has increased, and they have new San Roque sweets for you.
