Abstract:

This essay is based on a conference called ‘’Developing Fluency in Reading’’ by Paul Nation that took place in South Korea. He emphasizes in the importance of producing fluency even with basic vocabulary and the importance of recognizing those words. Also he is concerned on the reading’s meaning, the practicality, and the reliability of the text, if it the text content is appropriate for their level. He also considers that practice should be a priority.

The reading text and relevance and practicality

On the reading text should be presented a meaning, something of the interest of the Ss, otherwise they are going to start reading less and getting bored. “I have a passion for teaching kids to become readers, to become comfortable with a book, not daunted.
