Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore how the Hispanic immigrants with
diabetes live and their family members. This qualitative study is compering the
Hispanic and Latin immigrants with diabetes and the non-Hispanic White. This
article identifies and describe the problem have it by the Hispanic patient living
with diabetes. Describe the suffering of Hispanic patient with diabetes. The focus
group consisted of both patient and family members. Study conducted in South
Caroline in a free health clinic who gives support large population of low-income
Hispanic persons. Credibility of the data collected was enhanced by using bilingual
and bicultural interview. The necessity of patients to develop a better form of feed
to help diabetes. The 3 mayor barrier identify were suffering the disease ,difficulty
in management the disease and lack of resource to help. The cultural barrier is the
ones of the biggest because push the Hispanic to eat food that couldn’t be the most
healthy, so is more hard to help the condition.
Analysis
The Hispanic and Latin show a poorer self-management of type 2 diabetes
than non-Hispanic whites. That’s the principle reason of why this study was made
it. This study was performed in North Caroline. Recruited were participant t of a
free health clinic and were volunteer for this study, includes diabetic 2 patient and
family member. Other purpose of the study is to identify the barriers which preven
t the Hispanic immigrant to work with the diesis.The study revealed that do not
allow the Hispanic to work with their disease. These barriers have to be most of all
with the Hispanic culture. For example they consume a lot of carbohydrates and fat
and low level of vegetables, other thinks is the Hispanic reports have no leisure
time to physical activity. The majority of the Mexican men and women present
overweight or obese.
Characteristic founded in the majority of the participants ,that support the ideas.
The ma have low-income. This barrier make really hard to assess a good health
treatment. Other one is a low education ad low acculturation. These two have t
o be with the low-Income to. The literacy and limited social support because social
and immigrants legal status is another barrier. Other thinks that prevent the good
treatment of the Hispanic is the lack of health insurance.
I cannot identify any hypothesis in this study or any outcomes specific. I think
the hypothesis and the outcomes are omitted because the study is trying to
identifies; specific problems the Hispanic has to treat the diabetes in compa
rison with the non-Hispanic white. The method used was a Qualitative descriptive
study. This method is choice when straight descriptions of the phenomena are
desired.
If I try to compare these ideas, we will see the have a lot of similitudes. Both
ideas believe that the Hispanic has poor management of the disease. Both believe
