INTRODUCTION

The course covers the four skills of listening, speaking reading and writing, while giving attention to grammar and vocabulary. This book seeks develop both fluency and accuracy in English. The topics are of high interest to students and provide a variety of exercises that develop proficiency in the area.

Each unity of the book is organized around a central topic and is divided in themes.

The following unit structure is used throughout the course.

Fluency activities. Listening and oral work

Reading skills that stimulate discussion

Writing excercises. Practical writing and composition skills.

Grammar exercises provide controlled practice leading to

communicate activities.

Oral excercises consist of fluency-focused pair and group

activities including discussion tasks, ranking activies, class

surveys,and other activities that encouraage an exchange of information.

Portfolio. Optional activities provide the development of both linguistic and communication skills.
