The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the U.S. agency which has the function of coordinating all space research and aeronautical development programs for non-military purposes.

The most important space ship is "The Apollo" it´s trip was first one that brought a celestial stuff back to earth.

The Challenger space shuttle had a terrific accident that occurred 73 seconds after launch, This is the most serious accident.

Apollo 13 was the seventh manned mission in the Apollo program and the third with the intention o landing on the moon. The landing was aborted due to the explosion of an oxygen tank after launch.

April 18, 1986: A Titan missile exploded few minutes after launch from Vanden berg Air Force Base in California.

September 10, 1998: A computer failure brings down a rocket carrying 12 commercial satellites minutes after launch from Baikonur.

Many animals have traveled into space on missions:

In the year of 1960 were sent two dogs, 40 mice, 2 rats, all returned to the earth.

In 1960 United States sent a monkey into space, which return to earth.

One of the most famous cases is that of which ever dog Laika back and died on the flight, was the first animal sent into space.

Rodolfo Neri Vela

He was born on February 19, 1952 in Mexico D.F. In 1975 he finishes his studies at the UNAM with a degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

In 1985 he was selected to become Mexico's first astronaut, Orbited the Earth109 times, on the space shuttle "Atlantis".

In addition to this experience with NASA, Dr. Neri Vela collaborated in 1989 and 1990 with the European Space Agency in the Netherlands, in the project of the International Space Station.
