1. Make a list of the most important events that have marked history and describe them briefly.

World Wars and the Cold War and it`s correlated conflicts (Vietnam, Bay of Pigs, Korea, etc…) The world wars basically made us notice of what atrocities we are capable of and that made us aware that there`s a need to establish a study of the diplomatic relations and its historic background. By knowing the background it`s easier to analyze a region or country. With the cold war we learnt that countries can compete in other areas than war. It can be economically, politically and technologically, just like the USSR and the US did. We also notices there can be big blocks of countries that share political and economic ideals within military interest, like NATO and the Warsaw pact.

2. Identify the most important theories in International Relations.

Realism and Liberalism

Realism states that there is no cooperation between nation states and that armed conflicts are the ultimate solution.

Liberalism states that there`d got to be cooperation to overcome issues or simply to make some progress.

3. What do you understand with the term "balance of power"?.

Balance of power is stated when all military powers from all nations are equal, so there are fewer chances of nations dominating other nations.

4. Based on the reading and your own knowledge, nowadays do we have political hegemony or are we facing a multipolar system?

We do have a multipolar system, because there are few socialist countries, but because they are not doing really well it doesn’t really matter. (China says it is socialist, but it`s very clear to our eyes that they are a capitalist economy, mainly because they are to be the next world super power) So, living in a multipolar system were the hegemonic one has got the upper hand looks like it`s an hegemonic one.

5. Please describe with your own words, what is international relations?

International relations is the study of regions and or countries and how their political, social and economic issues or factors affect their relations with other countries, regions, NGO, IGO, etc…
