When the Spanish went to conquer the Americas they first had to defeat the greatest existing empire there, the Inca Empire. This historical battle is known as The Battle of Caxamalca. Although this was not the only war the Spaniards had against the Incas, it is considered as the main one.

The Incas were facing many problems apart from the Spanish. They had recently gone out of a civil war between the two brothers who should be sharing the Incan empire, Atahualpa and Huascar. Huascar was supposed to have the complete control over the empire because he was the right full heir, but his father, Huayna Capac, had given the northern part of the empire to Atahualpa and the rest to Huascar. These caused Huascar to have hatred towards Atahualpa and he decided to attack and imprison him. After some time Atahualpa managed to escape and lead an attack against Huascar in which Huascar was defeated and captured.

Apart from just getting out of a civil war the Incas thought that the Spanish were Gods due to their shinning armors and their guns. This made the Incas afraid to face the Spanish when they attacked causing them to be unable to fight to their full potential.

The Spanish ambushed the Incas and captured Atahualpa. They kept him prisoner for gaining all the possible gold and silver from the Incas. After some time they killed Atahualpa and putted a puppet emperor for controlling the empire and eventually there were civil wars, but the Spanish ended up controlling the empire.
