The Shock Doctrine

Disaster capitalism was that governments took advantage of periods of economic crises, wars, natural disasters, terrorist attacks and epidemics, to loot the public interest and carry out all kinds of reforms in favor of the free market, so the only beneficiaries are governments and the economy.

The precursors of the shock doctrine are called "Chicago Boys" of Milton Friedman that were based on the discovery of electroshock psychology to erase memories and return the subject to a childlike state to rewrite its history. This translated to take advantage of economic crises, wars etc.., to introduce unpopular economic shock, people did not protest because he lived in fear of the circumstances of chaos that had at that time because of the lust for power of governments.

This chaos occurred in several countries, with Chile and Argentina first with their dictatorships. Later there were other crises in which it was applied, such as: the economic crisis on Wall Street, the Katrina, the Falklands War in Britain in 1982, Russia in 1993 and the 11S in the United States.

Already more than 40 years that was implemented this teaching, society these past was not prepared to fight this phenomenon, lived in an age of terror. Today, in the twenty-first century seems to be that we are already immune to this doctrine, since in the initial crisis is protesting and doing demonstrations to cutting measures which we live.

We should reflect on this film because it is a problem to worry about and we need to learn more to avoid falling into the same mistakes of the past.
