VAN MORRISON

Van Morrison or George Ivan Morrison was born on 31 August in 1945 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He is a singer, songwriter and musician and his musical career extends from 1958 to the present. He's considered one of the most influential musicians of his generation. His nickname is "The Lion Belfast." His musical styles include: rock, jazz, soul, blues, R & B, folk and country and he plays the guitar, the harmonic, the saxophone, the piano and also keyboards. He belonged to the Irish band Them, where he was the voice and played the harmonic. His career extends four decades, more than thirty studio albums and representative songs in his music catalog. He has collaborated with musicians like Georgie Fame, The Chieftains, Lonnie Donegan and Chris Barber. He has received six Grammy Awards and a Brit Award. He was included in 1993 in the Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Music in Ireland in 1999. In 2003 he was also inducted into the Hall of Fame composers. In 1992, he received several honorary doctorates from the University of Ulster and the University Queen's Belfast in 2001. In 1996 he received two orders: the British Empire and of Arts and Letters. He also influenced many contemporary musicians. Van Morrison married twice: one with Janet Planet in 1967, with who he had a daughter, Shana Morrison, and also with the actress Michelle Rocca in 1995, with who he had two children. In his discography we can find 34 studio albums, 6 live albums, 7 compilation albums, 69 singles and 4 video albums.
