The international business landscape has undergone some changes lately. New superpowers have emerged , superpowers able to shake the entire international scene. However, according to an article in the newspaper ABC , this does not change the fact that the language used in establishing international business relations remains the English .

English is increasingly the order of the day, being a requirement in more and more jobs. And is that English is the language that governs the world, you just have to look at the Internet, database and information source broader than humans ever could have imagined, whose use is increasingly necessary for the performance of any activity . It turns out that about 80% of the information stored on the Internet is in English.

If English is increasingly necessary for the daily life of a normal person, in the field of business there is any doubt about it. International negotiations are conducted in English, and not in a homespun English but in an English riddled with technical terms which knowledge is required to conduct a successful negotiation.

International contracts can sometimes translated into other languages, but most of them include a clause in which, in the case of misunderstanding somewhere in the contract, you reference the original contract (in English) giving priority to the latter over any other version.

Not only that, the need to know English when establishing international business relations reaches the point that there are a number of English terms coined specifically for this type of business (usually including moving goods between countries) . "Incoterms" called, the acronym for "International Commercial Terms" are terms needed, including specific, from the English and no translation possible connotations.

All this only frees one interpretation, and that is that in establishing international business relations, the lack of a level of English, which must also be quite technical, can make and is a huge disadvantage and even the impossibility of establishing such relationships.

hence the importance of English in Business .
