Programs that manage databases.

Access

Access is a personal database system from Microsoft. It is a software product oriented towards the visual, which means that those who are not programmers can create useful databases with ease. While the Access database structure can be extended to meet business needs, its most common use is for small individual databases or for limited use multi-user programs. Access integrates the Visual Basic language for applications, making it a complete development environment.

Access is graphical, so it takes full advantage of the graphical power of Windows, offering usual methods of accessing data and providing simple and direct methods of working with information.

Access facilitates data management, since its query and connection possibilities help you to quickly find the desired information, regardless of its format or storage location.

With Access it is possible to produce sophisticated and effective forms and reports, as well as graphs and combinations of reports in a single document.

Access allows a considerable increase in productivity through the use of attendees and macros. These allow you to easily automate many tasks without the need to program.

Visual FoxPro

FoxPro is a relational database system, also produced by Microsoft that is closely linked to its programming language. FoxPro is less friendly than end-user databases, which requires more technical knowledge than Access. This database system is known for its fast processing engine and the ability to handle numerous simultaneous operations.

Characteristics:

• Visual FoxPro is RAD (rapid application development).

• It's royalty free.

• Capacities for the handling of native and remote data.

• Flexibility to create database solutions.

• It is an object-oriented programming language.

• Use of SQL statements in native form.

• Management of views, cursors and complete control of relational structures.

• Supports transactions.

• Your own built-in database manager. However, you can also connect to database servers, such as Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Firebird or any of the more than 300 current database servers that have an ODBC Open Database Connectivity connector.

• It is possible to connect to database servers without installing any Open Database Connectivity ODBC connector, with registering a single Dll Dynamic Link Library is sufficient.

MySQL Database

MySQL is a server-based database that allows multiple users to access multiple databases. The software works on multiple platforms, including most varieties of UNIX and Windows. It offers limited foreground usability and is designed as a back-end database server. MySQL differs from other database products by its costs, the non-business version is distributed free of charge.
