Over the last years, people have argued about the benefits of living in the countryside or living in the city. Both places have their advantages and disadvantages but the decision of each individual has to be based on their personal and social needs.

On one hand, people choose to live in cities because they provide more opportunities in different areas of human life. As regards entertainment, in cities people are able to find a great variety of activities for all tastes such as, cultural activities, sport activities, culinary activities and the list goes on.  As regards job, the probability to find a good job and improve their position in society is high. Also, there are more opportunities to study and to get specialized in various fields.

In contrast with the good points of living in a city, there are some drawbacks. People put particular emphasis on the fact that the city lifestyle may attempt to their physical and mental health. The streets are full of cars and there are traffic jams every day causing a lot of noise and fumes. Moreover, there are a lot of factories and the emission of fumes is almost constant. As a result, there are high levels of air pollution.

On the other hand, the main factor that influences the decision of people about living in the countryside is calmness. Country life do not have crowded streets, traffic jams do not disturb neither their streets nor their commuters. In this way country dwellers can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and the picturesque environment.

Opposing to the advantages of living in the countryside, there are some bad points that make people a bit reluctant to live in rural areas, one of these bad point is monotonous life. There are not as much inhabitants as in the city, for this reason there are not as much varieties of shops as in the city. As a result, entertainment activities are not varied. Furthermore, there are not a great variety of jobs and the ones available are more related to farming. Besides this, these places are usually isolated, so people have to travel a lot to arrive at urban areas.

To conclude, there is evidence both to support and refute the view that living in the city is preferable to live in the countryside or vice versa. On one hand, there are the city facilities with their bad points. On the other hand, there is the calmness of rural areas with its complications. Whether you choose to live in cities, or in the countryside is a personal decision according to your needs, but I would say that is better a healthy life without commodities than commodities without a healthy life.
