1. What is Didactics?

Didactics is the way teacher, students and material interact in a classroom.

It is the art or science that establishes the elements needed in the teaching and learning process to guarantee the acquisition of knowledge.

2. How is didactic linked to the teaching and learning process?

It is linked with the teaching process because it determines the teaching behavior, values and principles that guides the teacher in his classes. Also, it is linked with students because its purpose is to facilitate the contents’ acquisition to students.

3. How is Didactic linked to the class planning and management?

It determines how the teacher faces the different situations in the classroom and the way teacher manages contents and learning situations every day.

4. Which methods and techniques I used in my daily teaching process?

I commonly use chunks with a Communicative Approach as well as Total Physical Response (TPR) and realia to facilitate the language structures’ comprehension.

5. Is Didactic an Art or a Science?

It is an Art because teachers need to be passionate about teaching and have the desire to improve their skills every day.

It is a science because as a science it give us the elements needed in the teaching and learning processes.

6. What is the role that you have as teacher in your classroom?

I consider myself as a model, a facilitator and a counselor.

But a teacher plays many roles in classroom, he is not just a model, a facilitator, and a counselor, he is also a friend, a leader, an organizer, a planner, an informer and a monitor. Each of these roles is played by the teacher in the different stages of the teaching process.

7. Class Planning.

Time: 20 minutes

Level: Intermediate

Objectives: Students will identify and use Past Perfect Tense

Main Goal: Students will use past perfect tense to talk about their daily routines

Language Structure: I had ________

Assessment: Students write questions and sentences in past perfect tense.

Students use part perfect to express own daily routines

Vocabulary: Daily activities (take a shower, wake up, get dressed, eat breakfast)

Previous knowledge: Past tense and verbs in past participle

Activities

1. Review past tense.

Students answer the question: What did you do in the morning?

Teacher elicits, writing down on board the answers

2. Review past participle.

Students dictate past participle to teacher.

Teacher writes down infinitive, past and past participle of the listed verbs

3. Choral repetition.

Teacher write down language structure on board

Students read aloud short sentences, using the language structure “I had ______ before I _______” using past perfect tense

4. Identify grammar rules

Teacher writes down the grammar pattern on board, explaining it

5. Rearrange sentences

Students join a competition, using the grammar pattern as a guide to rearrange sentences.

Teacher divides the group into 2 teams

6. Identify grammar rules

Teacher writes down the grammar pattern for negative and questions, explaining it

7. Writing practice

Students formulate and write down one question, using the target language structure

8. Role-play

Students mingle, making and answering he previously formulated questions

9. Homework

To write 3 sentences using past perfect tense.
