A description of the target group (number of students, age, level, special needs, nationality, mother tongue …).
The school is located in a village in the province of Alicante. Families have a medium - low economic level. The group class consists of 25 students (10 girls and 15 boys). The average level of learning is suitable. They’re 9 years old. They’re in 3rd grade. There are 6 children immigrants, Moroccan, but they came to Spain in Early Childhood Education and they don’t have great difficulties with the language. There is a Russian child adopted by a single parent. He has learning difficulties, constantly needs approval from the teacher to function successfully, his insecurities are a challenge for his development. Their mother tongue is Spanish, Moroccan and Russian.
Length of time for the activity.
Twenty minutes for the first exercise. For the second one thirty-five minutes.
Teaching/Learning objectives. Exercise 1.
1. To learn and use vocabulary related to conversations.
2. To express likes and dislikes related to conversations.
3. To be aware of the importance of respecting the other students opinions.
4. To role-play a situation in a conversation with a puppet.
5. To understand the main idea of a speech.
6. To appreciate the importance of knowing a foreign language to communicate.
Teaching/Learning objectives. Exercise 2.
1. To review some of the vocabulary learnt in the previous lessons.
2. To identify and talk about deserts.
3. To use some verbs in the Present Simple.
4. To appreciate the foreign language as a communicative instrument.
5. To provide information about the location of places.
6. To develop a respectful attitude towards the environment.
Materials used. Exercise 1.
Cookie Monster puppet, “Hello Song” and cushions. The students need a comfortable place to sit.

Pencils, notebooks, rubbers, interactive white board. We will use a little story about deserts named “The Desert”
Classroom arrangement. Exercise 1.
Students will be sitting on the floor in a horseshoe. The teacher will be the focus of attention because he/she will use a cookie monster puppet to start a conversation.

Students will be sitting at their desks paying attention into the Interactive White Board.
Lessons procedure. Exercise 1
This exercise will be introductory to the lesson. It named “Puppet Conversation”: Hand puppets really liven up a classroom, especially for young learners who are shy when talking to the teacher. You'll probably find that some students prefer talking to the puppet than to you! Fun puppet characters (such as Sesame Street's Cookie Monster) that talk to Students can produce unexpected results. Here's what I do:
1. Cookie Monster is sleeping in a bag. Each student has to shout "Wake up Cookie Monster!" into the bag. Cookie Monster only wakes up when the whole class shout together into the bag.
2. Cookie Monster says hello to each Student and asks them questions (their names, how they are, how old they are, etc.). Students reply and ask Cookie Monster the same questions.
3. Students and Cookie Monster sing the 'Hello Song' together.
4. Cookie Monster says goodbye to each Student individually and then goes back to sleep in the bag. The actual lesson can now start.
