Futuro próximo: be + going to (ir a)

Este tiempo verbal indica un futuro inmediato.

I am going to (yo voy a).

He is going to (él va a).

She is going to (ella va a).

It is going to (eso, esa va a).

We are going to ( nosotros/as vamos a).

They are going to ( ellos/as van a).

You are going to (tú vas a / ustedes van a).  

Affirmative (+)

I’m        (I +am)

You’re        (You + are)

He’s         [going to] swim.         (He + is)

She’s        (She + is)

We’re        (we + are)

They’re        (They + are)

You aren’t

He isn’t        going to swim.

Expresiones en tiempo futuro: Tomorrow, next week, next month.

Ejem.

What are you going to do tomorrow?

I’m going to shop for a new pair of sneakers.

Is she going to go shopping for clothes next week?

Yes, she is.

Pasado progresivo.

Este tiempo indica una acción que se estaba realizando.

El verbo principal de la oración lleva “ing” (ando, endo); acompañado de un auxiliar que es el verbo to-be en pasado was, were (estaba, estábamos, estaban).

I was (yo estaba).

You were (tú estabas).

He was (él estaba).

She was (ella estaba).

It was (eso, esa estaba).

We were (nosotros/as estábamos).

You were (ustedes estaban).

They were (ellos/as estaban).

Para una oración interrogativa se utiliza la siguiente estructura:

To-be + sujeto + vb principal (ing) + complemento.

Ejem.

Was the cat drinking its milk? (Estaba el gato tomando su leche?)

Yes, sujeto + to-be – yes, the cat was.

No, sujeto + to-be not – no, the cat wasn’t

Para una oración negativa:

Sujeto + to-be + vb principal (ing) + complemento.

The cat was drinking its milk.

The cat wasn’t drinking its milk.

Was + not = wasn’t

Were + not = weren’t

 Jhon was working in this school last year.

They were playing baseball yesterday.

Mary was studying English at night.

We were eating in this restaurant.
