Module 1

Like + ing                         - enjoy + ing

Like + to – infinitive       -hate + ing

When you like or enjoy doing something you use ING with the verb, but when it is an obligation or the correct thing to do, you use TO – INFINITIVE.

Example: I like playing soccer

                  I like to be punctual

Mary likes _________ people.

Would you like…?

 

When you ask “ do you like…?” you are asking about preferences, but when youse ask “would you like….?” You are offering or inviting something to someone.

 

Does Joseph enjoy reading magazines?

Would you like to go shopping?

Yes, I would like to eat a sandwich   b) yes, I would like to read a magazine c) yes, I would like to buy a magazine

With would prefer the verb is used with ING, but with would rather the verb is used in BASE FORM 

 

Do you want to watch a comedy movie?

Present perfect

Structure:

Pronoun + have / has + verb in past participle

                       Haven’t/hasn’t

Questions:

Have/has + pronoun + verb in past participle + ?

Yet goes at the end of the sentence

Already goes between the auxiliary and the verb
