He was a dancer, musician and Singer.

He was born the third of May in 1933 in a hut in the surrounding area of South Carolina.

He was abandoned by his mom, grow up with his dad and finally he went to live with his aunt. She had a tavern but it was a brothel too.

He started cleaning shoes, picking cotton and stealing cars parts. When James was sixteen years old, he was convicted for theft and spent three years in a juvenile reformatory.

James and Bobby Byrd created a gospel group that become a soul band, named “The Flames”.

Brown played the piano and the drums, he sang with Bobby also. They put on sale their first album “Please, Please, Please”, which sold a million copies. James was the most charismatic member of the group and soon created his own band.

James Brown was nicknamed “Mr. Dynamite” and he was one of the more popular Afro-American artist, for his imposing voice and frantic movements. Brown was famous with titles as "I Got You (I Feel Good)", "Sex Machine", "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag" and "Living in America".

During the 60, many Afro-American saw in James Brown a cultural hero and a symbol of their race in a racist society.

In the following years his recordings continued have success, but by 1975 his carrer began a descent. He had financial difficulties and with hacienda for not pay taxes. In 1988, his third wife reported him to the pólice for maltreatment and he was arrested for possession of marijuana and ilegal use of a firearm.

On May in 1999, he sold the rights to his music for $100 million. James Brown is considered the father of the soul and but his music helped create styles as rap, funk and disco.

James Bown died the twenty five of December on 2006 when he was seventy three years old because of a pneumonia.
