What matters most to you, and why?

When I first read the title of the assay that I am about to write, It seemed a little bit confusing to me. There are so many things in life that matters most to me: my family, my friends, love, money, football, my career, my education, my future, my health, etc. How I am supposed to only choose one think that keeps me alive. Creating my statement of life purpose is incredible difficult.

Then I remember some of the books that in my high school forced me to read called Man´s searching of Meaning by Victor Frankl. To be honest, I am not a person with a reading habit. But somehow, I really liked it and enjoyed reading it. In the book, Viktor Frankl is telling his owns experiences at a concentration camp during the World War II. He created a new psychological method which involves identifying a life purpose to keep his fight and stay alive.

I am not going to say that this book produced a big change on my life or that kept me focused in finding my life purpose. However, it made me wonder. How can it be possible that man who was in a concentration camp can imagine everyday his future and have a life purpose.

Meanwhile me, I am free to go to anywhere I want, to choose whatever I like. I cannot complain about anything in my life. I haven’t chosen any women to marry, I haven’t had any kid and I haven’t chosen any job. I’m just a young person which future stands in front of me. I’m free to be such a successful person in whatever I want. This freedom allows me to dream, to desire and attain what I desire. This is why I think what matters most to me is my future. The decisions I haven’t made, the successful thinks I will be proud of, and the mistakes that I hope to fix.

When I was a kid, my grandma took me by my hands and started watching my palms. She said that every single line in there has a reason. The main three lines represent love, intelligence and health. It all depends on the shape and how long they are. But there is a fourth one that represents faith, which not everybody has it. She said that my faith line is the longer one and she had never seen one like mine.

To be sincerely, I still don’t believe that my palm could tell me my future. But maybe that is just a message telling me to keep fighting against adversities and to never give up on my dreams. As Victor Frankl did, I will keep dreaming on my future everyday while I am alive because I know God create me for a special purpose, but it is up to me to find what it is.
