THE SPOON IS BETTER THAN A FORK

INTRODUCTION

Spoons have been used as eating utensils since Paleolithic times. Spoons have also been made from metals, among the most representative are gold, silver, and pewter. In addition, other materials as ivory, bone, horn, pottery, porcelain, and crystal. Eating utensils and cooking implements were used by both rich and poor for nearly all of the first century of American colonization.

There are many important reasons why the spoon is better than a fork.

1. First of all the spoon is a necessity for eating different kinds of food.

 Soup

 Drink

 Dessert

2. The spoon is more helpful on many occasions

 Do not to waste time

 To taste better the food

 Avoid some accidents

3. The spoon has an universal use

 Weight measurements

 Babies become interested in learning to feed themselves

 good etiquette

BODY

1. One can use it to eat almost anything by shoveling it onto your spoon; one of them is a soup. The spoons are necessary to hold and carry liquids to the mouth. Therefore one cannot eat soup with the fork.

 In Ecuador there are many foods which are necessaries the use of a spoon for example, sancocho, viche, aguado. All of them are delicious and appetizing.

 The state of drinks needs a spoon to taste better. Ecuadorian food has different and exquisite drinks for instance jucho, rosero quiteño, y morocho which are viscous liquid, due to this it is recommendable to try it with a spoon.

 In Ecuador there are many desserts which are traditional; some of them are pristiños, quimbolitos, humiotas, consequently one need a spoon to taste it.

2. On many occasions the spoon is helpful, one of them is to not spend much time while one is eating. For example many people who work all day have a limited time so they have to eat fast.

 With a fork would be impossible to eat fast specially a soup or a viscous drink. It is necessary to use a spoon.

 In addition spoons facilitate one to taste better the food. For instance, almost chefs need a spoon to taste the meal that is cooking.

 A spoon is less dangerous than the fork, because of could be a bladed weapon.

3. For cooking usually most of the recipes require precise measurements of some ingredients and it requires that we use various measuring cups, measuring spoons.

 One universal use could be when the spoons are used in some desserts to collect the syrup, although it has previously used the fork. In coffee the spoon is used to remove sugar.

 Babies become interested in learning to feed themselves with a spoon when they are about 10 months old. However, do not expect them to become experts right away because most children cannot eat independently with a spoon without spilling until well into their second year. You need patience to teach your baby to eat with a spoon, but your rewards include decreased mealtime effort for you and an increase in independence for your baby.

 Lastly it is good etiquette to use the spoon when someone eats soup especially in South America.

CONCLUSION

The fork is unimportant and it can be easily substituted with hands, or chopsticks, while the spoons are universal. In Asia where chopsticks are used to replace the "fork" niche, they still have Spoons, because for them there is not substitute.

Spoons have been around for a long time. Forks and chopsticks are interesting inventions, but they are unimportant and unnecessary. Utensils of that kind are just vain things to keep your hands clean. Spoons however, are a fundamental part of eating.
