Policemen help woman to give birth in San Miguel de Allende

The incident occured around 5:00 am of the past Thursday, when the 066 emergency center received a distress call from a man, due his wife was going to give birth and couldn't even arrive to the hospital.

The new parents left their home minutes before 5:00 am. She with contractions, and he, with the sole purpose of finding a taxi to go to the hospital. Nonetheless the taxi never appeared while they were waiting in Salida a Queretaro street, at the height of a well known ballroom.

The woman, due to the birth pangs, ended laying on the sidewalk in the darkness and when the thermometer scored less than 5 degrees Celsius.

Three minutes after the man called to the emergency center, the policeman Jose Miguel Vazquez Vakdez arrived and immediatly realized seriousness, and he asked for an ambulance, in addition he requested support from his mates.

"I was the first to arrive, apparently the couple was looking for a shuttle to transport to the General hospital, the woman was on the floor, I had no more than just asking for support to an ambulance and to my mates who immediatly helped clothing the woman and the neonate with their uniform jackets", the officer narrated.

Minutes later, some other policemen arrived, including Juan Jose Santos Espinoza, who received the neonate.

After this, Red Cross paramedics aided the neonate and the mother, they were transfered to the General Hospital,where immediatly they received medic attention. Now, they are reported as stable.

Near noon, the director of public security Gabriel Yañez Saldaña, requested the presence of the cops José Miguel Vázquez Valdez y Juan José Santos Espinoza, to congratulate them personally for helping people on what they need, in this case of attending a birth.

"With this, is demostrated the human spirit of the security corporation”, Said Yañez Saldaña.

Ten students from San Miguel de Allende will travel to Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Mayor Mauricio Trejo Pureco achieved that at least the first ten students from San Miguel can travel to Santa Fe, New Mexico in a way of student exchange, so he considered immediatly after the signing of the twining between both cities were achieved benefits for San Miguel de Allende.

After last Thursday, the twining between Santa Fe and San Miguel de Allende was taken in a formal way, Mayor Mauricio Trejo Pureco completed a tight schedule were he met Mauricio Ibarra Ponce de Leon, Mexico's consul in Albuquerque, and he had an approachment with Laurence A. Hinz, president of Santa Fe University of Art and Design, to talk about the studying opportunities that offers this university,
