Solar Tower

The Solar Tower is a revolutionary invention that is going to change the world.

The Solar Tower is a construction designed by Consumer Eroski Company, which was published on 2013, that uses solar and wind energy by air convection. The project is planned to be installed in Spain, is going to be located around Fuente El Fresno in Ciudad Real. Because this area possesses a warm weather, mild humidity, plains and vast space, has the ideal conditions for the construction of a solar tower.

The Solar Tower is an invention destined to generate electricity thanks to its operating system: At the base of the tower we found a large glass surface of 3 km in diameter designed to heat the air that will rise by 750 meters to produce electrical energy by moving turbines which are on the top of the tower.

The numbers of this exceptional infrastructure are amazing. On one hand is a type of renewable solar energy that produces 40 MW per year (to supply about 120 thousand people), on the other, it will employ thousands of people. About the environmental impact, this invention will be able to reduce annual emissions by 75,000 tons of carbon dioxide, the equivalent of burning 140,000 barrels of oil.

If we start building these Towers in many places of the world, the global warming is going to be less, because we are going to have another way to produce electricity, which is safer for our planet and for us too, because the pollution it’s also producing damage to people.

This invention is going to have a cost, which is going to be high attending to this master construction, but it’s going to worth it. Because of the expense of this large amount of money, we are going to safe even more money that we would spend trying to rescue things that we damaged with the process of how we produce electricity now.

The operation of this Solar Tower is very efficient. Solar rays impact in the solar tower crystals and raise its inside temperature thanks to the greenhouse effect. The temperature goes up to the center of the collector. The air coming from the ends of the collector it gets heated; then, it tends to rise seeking an escape route. In this way produces an ascending airstream which flows through the chimney and goes outside. The velocity of this airstream is incremented according to its circulation to the center of the collector. At the base of the tower are located 24 turbines which are moved by air. These in turn move a generator that produces electricity. The solar tower will be capable of generating 40 MW per year, enough to supply the average consumption of 25,000 households. At night, the solar collector keeps emanating heat inside and the air stream doesn’t stop; this allows it to keeps generating electricity.

In a segment of the collector, the temperature and climate that is generated allows the installation of a 250-hectare greenhouse
