Taxi Driver  Review.

This movie is  mainly

drama  that takes place in  New York City, showing the life of a war veteran whit mental issues that works at night as a taxi driver.

Travis, the taxi driver, he after coming back from Vietnam still feels the urge of act in a violent way, he manages to buy different kind of guns and munition to atack people, mostly “the bad ones”, that i how he meets, Iris a preadolescent prostitute who Works for an older guy thats is her pimp. Travis in a desperate way of saving her one nigth shoot all the man that where in the brothel, he gets seriously injured in the altercation, and the several injuries put him in to a coma. When he wakes up from the coma, he founds out Iris came back to her own town with her fathers and also that he was a current hero for the city of New York.

The main character Travis is not an stereotypical hero, but he does show a hidden side of the war veteran, the part where they struggle to became sane again and been  normal citizens. I really liked the transformation that he shows, the true feelings that express  through a docen of monologues discussing with himself what a rotten world was the one he was living in.

On the other hand another important character is Iris, the typical damaged girl that wants to be saved by someone but when is time for that, she doubt it just because of the lack of self love she has, this character even though is utterly important in the movie I did not like it very much, it was to predictable for me, it was more of what he have seen in other movies like this.

The reason why this film is one of my favorite is because it has the perfect combination of action and an intelligent  script that keeps you wondering after the movie, if everything that was shown there is different from the world that we live in.

Also another important reason to consider this film a really great one is the incredible monologues given by the principal character played by Robert Deniro, here he truly shows his talent as an actor, and of course the incredible way of direct of Martin Scorsese. In this film in my point of view he start a new way of film making that is now his own  trademark.
