Twelve Angry Men

Twelve Angry Men is set in the US in the 90s. It stars Henry Fonda, an American actor as juror number eight, and twelve unnamed jurors.

As the film opens, A murder trial begins and the judge calls a jury made up of twelve men with different trades such as workers, bakers, doctors, lawyers, bricklayers who have to deliberate on the future of a young man, determined if he is Guilty or innocent of his father's murder. If there is any reasonable doubt they must return a verdict of not guilty. If found guilty, he will be sentenced to death.

The evidence points to his guilt, so eleven of the twelve jurors say so, but jury number 8 takes into account different arguments that have been cited in the trial, and raises doubts about the guilt of the young guy. Little by little, member number 8 makes the others change their minds. In the film, different types of behaviors are observed and the role that each member of the jury plays, thus showing characteristics of their personality and how their life influences the time to determine the guilt of the defendant

Finally, the jurors found the young man not guilty due to the existence of a reasonable doubt.

Skifully directed by Sidney Lumet, the film is set in the 1990s. The screenplay, written by Reginald Rose, is alternately gripping, shocking and hilarious, and the camerawork is impressive. As juror number eight, he is engaging with his enthusiasm and decision-making ability. However, for me it's jury character number five, convincingly acted by Jack Klugman, the most fascinating of all.

Twelve men judging without mercy is a light and charming film, where a reasonable doubt changes the logic of an already pre-established sentence that I highly recommend.
