EMOTIONAL DEPENDENCE

Many times, we aren’t awareness about our attitudes in a relationship. A lot of negative things happens when we are insecure about ourselves that may affect our couple. The emotional dependence isn’t good for either of you, it’s a feeling that can hurt.  Emotional dependence is a state in which an individual relies heavily on another person for emotional support, validation, and a sense of identity. This can manifest in various ways, such as constantly seeking reassurance from a partner or becoming anxious when not in constant contact with them. Emotional dependence can also lead to a lack of independence and self-confidence, making it difficult for individuals to make decisions or cope with challenges on their own. In extreme cases, emotional dependence can also lead to controlling behaviors and an inability to maintain healthy relationships. Low self-esteem is one of the most common features of emotional dependence, followed by the fear to loneliness.

Emotional dependence can have a significant impact on relationships, often leading to feelings of resentment, frustration, and burnout for the partner who is relied upon for emotional support. It can also lead to a power imbalance in the relationship, with one partner feeling responsible for the emotional well-being of the other and the emotionally dependent partner feeling powerless and insecure without their support. Additionally, emotional dependence can also lead to the breakdown of communication and intimacy in relationships, as the emotionally dependent partner may struggle to express their own needs and instead focus solely on the needs and emotions of their partner

At first sight, affective dependence is seen like something that doesn’t matter a lot, but actually is very important because it’s a problem that can bring consequences such as psychological disorders, therefore, it must be solved as soon as possible. Overcoming emotional dependence is not always easy, but with the right treatment you can achieve it. The first step is to assume that you have a problem that needs to be solved. It’s important that you become aware that you have an unhealthy dependency on another person, a dependency that prevents you from being happy and affects your daily performance, causing discomfort. Overall, overcoming emotional dependence is a challenging but important process that can lead to healthier and more fulfilling relationships. In addition, open and honest communication with one's partner about their emotional needs and the importance of mutual support can also aid in overcoming emotional dependence.

In conclusion, overcoming emotional dependence requires a combination of self-reflection, professional help, healthy coping mechanisms, and establishing healthy boundaries in relationships.
