La saga gira, principalmente, en torno la rivalidad entre dos antiguas sociedades secretas: los Assassins (asesinos) y los Templarios, y su relación indirecta a una antigua especie anterior a la humanidad; cuya sociedad, junto con gran parte de la biosfera de la Tierra, fue destruido por una enorme tormenta solar.

La saga nos sitúa en el año 2012, y cuenta con el protagonista Desmond Miles, un camarero que es descendiente de varias líneas de Assassins prominentes. Aunque fue criado como un Asesino, Desmond huyó de su familia nómada en busca de un estilo de vida más común. Es entonces cuando es secuestrado, inicialmente, por la megacorporación Abstergo Industries, la sede de la moderna Orden del Temple, que son conscientes del linaje de Desmond. Desmond se ve obligado a utilizar el "Animus", un dispositivo que le permite experimentar sus recuerdos ancestrales a través de su ADN. Abstergo está tratando de descubrir la ubicación de varios artefactos misteriosos, los llamados "Fragmentos del Edén", que guardan un gran poder, el cual es capaz de controlar la humanidad y alterar su destino.

Desmond también se encuentra con un pequeño equipo de Assassins de hoy en día. Assassin's Creed is a series of video games, comics, books, movies and historical fiction action-adventure open world stealth

The series mainly revolves around the rivalry between two ancient secret societies: the Assassins (murderers) and the Templars, and its indirect relationship to an ancient pre-human species; whose society, along with much of the biosphere of the Earth, was destroyed by a massive solar storm.

The saga puts us in 2012, and features the protagonist Desmond Miles, a bartender who is descended from several prominent lines Assassins. Although he was raised as a Murderer, Desmond fled his nomadic family in search of a common life style. That is when he is kidnapped initially megacorporation Abstergo Industries for the seat of the modern Knights Templar, who are aware of the lineage of Desmond. Desmond is forced to use the "Animus", a device that allows him to experience his ancestral memories through his DNA. Abstergo is seeking to discover the location of several mysterious artifacts called "Pieces of Eden", which hold great power, which is able to control mankind and alter its destination. Desmond also finds a small team of Assassins today. Agreeing to work with them, Desmond use their version of the Animus (Animus 2.0) to continue to experience the memories of their ancestors to discover the many remaining Fragments of Eden with the mission to recover before Abstergo can. While experiencing these memories, some of their abilities are genetically filtered Desmond, this fact being known as the Bleeding Effect, giving some of the skills Murderer his predecessors had perfected throughout his life, with multiple sets of memories and personalities in their mind that disrupt the reality of Desmond.
